Blind spot marking for heavy vehicles
Blind spot marking, mandatory from 1 January 2021 for all heavy vehicles (trucks, vans, trailers and buses) circulating in French territory, with a permissible total laden weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes. It is currently also mandatory in the Municipality of Milan, for the same vehicles (specifically categories M2, N2, M3 and N3) circulating in the Area B of the ZTL.
The marking must be positioned to be visible in all circumstances, without obstructing the visibility of the vehicle’s license plates and regulatory inscriptions, the visibility of various lights and signalling devices, and the driver’s field of vision.
Characteristics:
- Available for both industrial vehicles and buses.
- Dimensions according to law: 250x170 mm
- In accordance with Regulation 311-1, point 1.8 of the French Highway Code
Areas of application:
- In French territory: vehicles with a permissible total laden weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes (excluding exceptions established by the relevant regulations)
- In the Municipality of Milan, Area B of the ZTL: trucks, vans and buses of categories M2, N2, M3, N3
Assembly instructions:
- For motor vehicles: signage in the first metre in front of the vehicle, excluding glass surfaces, on the left and right, at a height between 0.90 and 1.50 metres from the ground
- For semi-trailers: signage, left and right, in the first meter behind the vehicle’s pin at a height between 0.90 and 1.50 meters from the ground
- For trailers: signage in the first meter of the front part of the vehicle’s body, left and right, at a height between 0.90 and 1.50 meters from the ground
Warnings:
- It is recommended to follow the guidelines provided in the French Highway Code, and the exemptions established by the Municipality of Milan for the circulation of industrial vehicles and buses
